The idea for the Affordable Attainable Housing Project (AAHP) was initiated in 2014 by Imam Ali who is the resident Imam for Northeast Denver Islamic Center (NDIC) or Masjid Taqwa. The main driver for the project was the lack of adequate housing for families especially the African American population. The lack of housing and the exorbitant prices of real estate and rentals in Denver are preventing deserving families from having stable places to live and raise their families.

Northeast Denver Islamic Center will provide its parking lot as the site for the project. The proposed building will have adequate parking to accommodate the building residents and the Masjid parking needs. To fund the project we hope to raise private and public funding to staff and complete the design and construction of the project. A small grant from Islamic Relief USA has provided funding to begin the planning of this project. Masjid Taqwa will act as the fiscal agent and its Imam and Shura Board will monitor and oversee the project as it progresses.
